Lost in Lace

‘Lost in Lace’ at the Gas Hall in Birmingham was an exciting exhibition at every turn! First thing Saturday morning I was in an almost empty gallery space – what a lovely experience!

From the doorway the viewer is enticed to look through some beautiful paper and fibre ‘lace structures’ to the Victorian plasterwork on the ceiling of the gallery and beyond!

Layers of pattern and texture, combined with the ability to look through structures created an exciting dimension at every angle.

Perception of size and scale change with the viewers’ movement around the gallery space where time can be spent appreciating close up detail and skill or the larger sculptural effects created by the installations.
